Madera Trade is a trusted source of sustainable wood products for small to medium buyers in the North American and European markets.
We connect buyers and suppliers and feature wood products for the Green building and furniture industries that are certified sustainable, rapidly renewable and reclaimed. We believe in creating deals that are profitable, environmentally sustainable, and equitable for the communities where the wood originates. Madera Trade is based in Brooklyn, New York.
Madera Trade facilitated the sourcing of reclaimed tropical Ipe wood salvaged from the Coney Island Boardwalk to be used as flooring in the legendary Capitol Theatre that reopened in August of 2012. Using reclaimed tropical hardwood rather than sourcing new wood from Latin America reduces the project’s environmental footprint and promotes local economic development. The Coney Island Boardwalk has a rich history and is a great story for the Capitol Theatre to promote along with the environmental benefits.
Madera Trade is working with The Rockaway Waterfront Alliance http://rwalliance.org to help protect the historic Ipe and Cumuru Teak boardwalk decking upended by Hurricane Sandy. With a new plan set in place by the New York City Parks Department to salvage and store the valuable wood, the next step is to make sure the resource is properly managed and that any revenue generated through its sale makes its way to the Rockaway community and the rebuilding of their devastated waterfront.
Madera Trade has partnered with an Ecuadorian manufacturer of bamboo products to help bring high-end, FSC certified flooring, plywood, veneers and countertops to the North American and European markets. In a predominantly Chinese dominated industry, Madera Trade looks to put Ecuador and Latin America on the map in this emerging market. Contact us for pricing and product information.
